Mr Subraya, a lean bearded man in Bangalore helped me in my initiation into studying the abstruse scripture, The Bhagavad Geeta back in my teens. Today, he lies quiet, yet smiling in a hospital ward, having been diagnosed to have an illness that I wouldn't call trivial. I feel compelled to dedicate a few lines to him. Inspite of my being, and having been, a skeptic who has not been able to accept entirely anything that he said, he is dear to me for reasons I have not been able to rationalize.
So here's to him, and here's to everything I experienced when I was associated with him... the adolescent days filled with spiritual battles, the days of interpreting The Despondency of Arjuna, the days of questioning my roots, my core, the days of ecstacy while chanting the melodious verses and the times of doubt, contemplation, joy, sorrow, detachment and apathy...
I hope he recovers very soon and lives a long, healthy, happy life with his family.
