A couple of my good friends got married (to each other) and I thought why not paint something as a wedding gift.
So here's Yin and Yang with an Indian marriage theme (those friends are Indian too). Since Yin-Yang represents the balance of duality, and is often interpreted as male and female in particular, I chose the theme for a wedding gift. The darker side is supposed to represent female, and the lighter one, the male. Things just fit in, due to the black hair of the bride and the white Kurta of the groom. (As an aside, I don't agree with the darkness and light bit at a metaphorical level, but just conveniently took parts of the symbolism that appealed to me :-)).
On the left is the groom seen from behind, with his head dress, a turban with a colorful drape falling loose, and on the right is the bride in a red saree, grand jewelery, and a bright red Bindi and Sindoor.
