The violins
Laughed, murmured, lamented,
Roared, wept, wailed
Into a seething soaring tsunami,
Washing away time
And ever flimsy reality.
The force that is humanity
Stood, stripped bare;
Vivid, virile, awe inspiring,
Passionate, pathetic, persuasive.
It stood there as the only reality,
Piercing hearts and crushing guts.
Kaleidoscopic visions of civilizations
Flipped like pages of a history textbook.
A heart pulsated in the vortex of revelation, believing
That "I" had not any meaning, detached from humanity;
That "I" had not any meaning, detached from history.
The heart knew not what to say but the dire words,
"I want to be part of a renaissance".
[This is an attempt to describe the experience at a Vivaldi concert at San Marco square near the Palace of the Doges in Venice, Italy. The hall houses a piano that used to be owned by Hitler. Concerts are performed on it these days.
It is overwhelming to see physical connections between us and history, the story of mankind, filled with wars, crusades, struggles, revolutions and revelations.
Yes, I am a humanist.]

Passionate, real and intense.
My fave lines:
That "I" had not any meaning, detached from humanity;
That "I" had not any meaning, detached from history.
The heart knew not what to say but the dire words,
"I want to be part of a renaissance".
