What if an asteroid hits the earth again?

A: "Amma, what if an asteroid hits the earth again? Will we all die, like the dinosaurs?"

Me: "Well, I think there is a greater chance of us knowing about an approaching asteroid because we have telescopes and know more astronomy than the dinosaurs. So we can do what is necessary to protect ourselves." (Actually I am clueless if you can actually know/predict asteroid activity but I felt compelled to say the above).

A: "What will we do? Stay inside our homes?"

Me: "Yeah something like that...." (vague)

A: "What will homeless people do? Will they have to hide in trees?"

Me: "Do you know what the government is? It's a group of people who work for the country, and it's the team that works with the president. If we get to know an asteroid is approaching us, one would hope the government will take care of all the people, including homeless people, by providing shelter."

A: "OK" (a little less anxious)
